Profile Requirements
The Department of Cultural Sciences at Lund University is a subjectively multifaceted environment for research and higher education, with around one hundred employees and about 1,700 students annually.
At the Department of Cultural Sciences, there are several research areas and educational programs at the undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels, distributed across seven divisions and two centers.
Placement and Subject Focus
The position is located at the Division of Ethnology, which is part of the Department of Cultural Sciences. The division offers undergraduate education in ethnology with a cultural analytical focus, advanced education within the international master's program in applied cultural analysis, as well as shorter English-language courses.
Students can study for a bachelor's degree at the division. The division offers several individual courses. There is a master's program in Applied Cultural Analysis aimed at developing and deepening students' knowledge and skills in cultural analysis, with a particular focus on the use of cultural analytical insights and methods in society and working life. The program is taught in English, and admission requires a bachelor's degree in humanities or social sciences or equivalent knowledge.

Job Responsibilities and Areas of Responsibility
Teaching in ethnology at the undergraduate and advanced levels, primarily within courses focusing on popular culture, cultural effects of global and national migration processes, cultural analytical perspectives, methods, and material collections, ethnographic projects. Teaching is conducted in the form of lectures, seminars, workshops, and supervision primarily in the following courses: Ethnology with a cultural analytical focus, continuation course (ETNA22), and Master's program in cultural analysis. Teaching in other subjects may also occur.
Qualifications
Requirements for the position are:
- PhD in ethnology (by the time of employment)
- Previous experience in teaching, supervision, and examination in ethnology.
- The ability to teach in Swedish from the first day of employment. The same applies to English.
Desirable for the position are:
- Experience in teaching and research at the university level within the ethnological field and ethnological cultural analysis.
- Experience in teaching cultural analytical perspectives and methods focusing on migration processes.
- Experience in thesis supervision and examination at undergraduate and advanced levels.
- Experience in teaching in English.
- Completed higher education pedagogical training.
- Experience in course responsibility.
- Experience working in teaching teams.
Other
The position is a temporary appointment of 50% with a start date of February 1, 2026, until June 30, 2026.
